Semester courses in Spanish and in English for international students
Spanish courses aimed at students who want to improve their communicative proficiency and their cultural knowledge of Spain. English courses are also available for those students who have not yet reached the level of proficiency in Spanish required to take a course in Spanish.
In addition, these can be combined with intensive and semester language courses.
There are 4 hours a week of class (2 sessions of 2 hours).
Courses last for a total of 60 hours. Each course is equivalent to 6 ECTS credits.
This course is aimed at international students who have not yet reached the level of proficiency in Spanish required to take a course in professional communication and intercultural strategies taught in Spanish, and its main goal is to improve students' understanding of intercultural communication in professional contexts, transmit essential strategies for understanding and acting in intercultural contexts and develop their mediation strategies. Course taught in English.

This course is aimed at international students who have not yet reached the level of proficiency in Spanish required to take a course taught in Spanish, and its main goal is to improve students' knowledge of diverse aspects of contemporary Spain, which will help them to understand the complex socio-political and cultural context of “the many Spains” of today, as well as the character of the peoples who inhabit them. Course taught in English.

The objective of this course is to reflect on the main social issues within the current Spanish context from an intercultural and interdisciplinary perspective, addressing the different mechanisms of power and inequality in a variety of social and cultural contexts. The course will address the need for a gender perspective in all social and communicative spheres, the complex phenomenon of migration in Western societies and related policies in the educational, political and social context, as well as the growth of nationalist feelings. Minimum Spanish level required: B1.

This course is aimed at international students who want to develop their skills in an area that is not normally part of language learning. Students will become familiarised with terminology related to economics, business administration, markets and associated topics, thus enabling them to communicate correctly in the target language. Minimum Spanish level required: A2.

The aim of this course is to bring students closer to essential aspects of the culture of Spain through literature. The main goal is to go in depth in those features of Spanish culture that are reflected in the texts that students read. This enables them to understand our culture, as well as the conflicts that explain the present. In addition, it is designed in a way that offers students an opportunity to work their communicative competence and to exercise all language skills. Students are required to have an intermediate level of understanding and expression, since the class and the presentations as well as the texts are entirely in Spanish. Minimum Spanish level required: B1.

The aim of this course is to bring students closer to essential aspects of tourism and to the recent gastronomic culture of Spain. The main goal is to go in the depth with the restaurant business, gastronomy and culture that are reflected in the Spanish culture. In addition, the design of the course offers the students the opportunity to work their communicative competence and exercise all language skills. Minimum level of Spanish required: A2.
